of sexual abuse and sexual assault are on the rise.
According to Bureau of Justice statistics, in 2004,
there were over 209,880 incidents of sexual assaults
reported nationwide.The vast majority of sexual assault victims are under the age of 18-years-old. Studies suggest that nearly 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys are molested before the age of 18. Sadly, most cases of child sexual abuse are never reported. Studies show that only 6% to 12% of sexual abuse cases are ever reported.
