Census 2000 data shows that the Harris County, TX population was 3.4 million, although 2005 estimates place the current population at nearly 3.7 million residents. Harris is Texas’ most populous county and is the third most populated county in the nation. Numerous cities, towns and other unincorporated areas comprise Harris County. Its largest urban areas include Houston and Pasadena. Other large urban areas such as Baytown, League City and Missouri City share their populations with Harris County, Texas as well as other surrounding counties.

Additional sites of interest in Houston include the cosmopolitan Theater District, which claims 17 blocks in the heart of downtown Houston, the Galleria, Galveston Island, Hermann Park, the Reliant Center and Sam Houston Historical Park. Houston also hosts several college level sporting events and such professional sports teams as the Astros and Texans.
Pasadena, TX, population 141,674, is the largest suburb of the Houston metro area. Pasadena’s base of employment, linked closely with the deepwater port in Houston and the affiliated industrial sectors, remains prosperous. This historic city is home to numerous museums such as the Armand Bayou Nature Center, the Bay Area Museum and the Pasadena Historical Museum. Pasadena also offers a quaint community theater venue, the Pasadena Philharmonic Orchestra and a rodeo. Facilities for higher learning in Pasadena include the San Jacinto College System, Texas Chiropractic College and a portion of the University of Houston Clear Lake. Pasadena was also the site of the 1980 movie Urban Cowboy, which starred John Travolta and Debra Winger.
