Barry & Loewy LLP has settled a wrongful death case involving an 18-wheeler tractor trailer that ran over and killed a 71-year-old man who was crossing an intersection in Austin, Texas.

The man was crossing the intersection at Ben White Boulevard and the outer road of IH-35. The driver of the 18-wheeler tractor missed the curved turnoff and pulled up to the intersection. He then made a very dangerous right hand turn and clipped the man as he was walking across the street. The truck's back tires ran over and killed the man. The case was complicated by eyewitness testimony stating that the 71-year-old was not paying attention and that he allegedly walked into the truck. Settlement is confidential.

Barry & Loewy LLP has settled a civil rights violations lawsuit involving police brutality in San Angelo, TX.

The case involved a man who was arrested by San Angelo police and taken to the Tom Green County Jail. While at the jail, the police officers laid the handcuffed man on the ground and then repeatedly kicked and beat the man with a police baton. The beating was so brutal that is caused the man's colon to perforate and he was forced to defecate into a colostomy bag for four (4) months. Settlement is confidential.

Barry & Loewy LLP Settles Multi-Million Dollar Breach of Contract Lawsuit

Barry & Loewy LLP settled a Multi-Million Dollar breach of contract lawsuit on behalf of its client, TELLIS Software, a small San Antonio, TX software company.

In 2005, TELLIS signed a Multi-Million Dollar contract with PokerTek, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTEK) to develop software for its electronic poker tables. TELLIS developed the software but PokerTek, Inc. maliciously breached the contract in order to avoid paying TELLIS.

Barry & Loewy LLP filed suit against PokerTek, Inc. for breach of contract and fraud. The case was settled for a confidential amount.

Barry & Loewy LLP Settles Sexual Molestation Case Against Houston Daycare Program
