December

  • Carl R. Barry and Adam Loewy of Barry & Loewy LLP have both been inducted in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. This is one of the most prestigious groups of Personal Injury trial lawyers in the United States. To be inducted into this group, a personal injury lawyer must win a trial or settle a case for One (1) Million dollars or more. In 2008 alone, Carl R.   • On July 31, 2008, Barry & Loewy LLP was honored to host a fundraiser for Woodie Jones, who is running for the Chief Justice of the 3rd Court of Appeals. Woodie is a former top-rated justice on the Third Court of Appeals and will make a superb Chief Justice. The event raised over $20,000 and was attended by over 100+ people. July

  • Barry & Loewy LLP represent an Austin woman who was brutally attacked by an Akita dog. The dog had previously bitten another person and had been quarantined. Nonetheless, the dog’s owner continued to keep the dog and it then attacked the Austin woman. The dog severely damaged the woman’s ulnar nerve in the elbow and she now has difficulty grasping items. Barry & Loewy LLP represents victims of dog bites throughout the state of Texas.

  • Barry & Loewy LLP represents an Austin nurse who was seriously injured while attempting to move a patient in a local hospital. The nurse sustained serious injuries to her back that require surgery but, disgracefully, the nurse’s employer has refused to compensate her for these injuries. Even worse, in order to avoid responsibility, the nurse’s employer wrongfully terminated her. Barry & Loewy LLP is co-counseling this case with Stephen Boutros of Houston.

  • Barry & Loewy LLP represent an Austin EMS paramedic who was seriously injured when a drunk driver plowed into his ambulance. The drunk driver then fled the scene but was quickly arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).   • Adam Loewy has been appointed to the Board of Directors of American Youthworks. AYW is an Austin charter school devoted to educating at-risk youth in the Central Texas area. The school has garnered national recognition for its work and plays a very important role in the Texas community. Adam is honored to be part of this wonderful organization.

  • Barry & Loewy LLP represent two Midland women who was seriously injured by a drunk driver. The two women sustained multiple fractures and lacerations as a result of the accident. Barry & Loewy LLP represents individuals who are killed and injured in drunk driving accidents throughout the state of Texas.

  • Barry & Loewy LLP represent an Austin man who was permanently injured in a motorcycle accident on Bee Caves Road. A car ran into the man, knocking him off his motorcycle, and causing him to suffer multiple fractures to his pelvis. Sadly, the man is wheelchair-bound for the foreseeable future and will require multiple surgeries.   • Carl R. Barry has been invited to speak at a national conference on 18-wheeler truck accident litigation on August 21, 2008. The conference is called ‘Trucking Accident Litigation and D.O.T. Regulations” and will take place in Austin, Texas. Carl is a nationally recognized truck accident lawyer and represents truck accident victims throughout the state of Texas.   • Barry & Loewy LLP represents the family of a U.S. Army solider who was recently killed in a motorcycle accident in Killeen, Texas. The solider had valiantly served our county and was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident near his base.   • Barry & Loewy LLP represent an Odessa, TX woman who was seriously injured in a truck accident. The driver of the truck was ticketed for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and arrested at the scene.   • Barry & Loewy LLP represents an Austin man who suffered permanent injuries from being hit by an 18-wheeler truck. The man was repairing a traffic light and was in an elevated bucket. The driver of the 18-wheeler negligently attempted to go underneath the bucket but failed to clear it. Instead, the 18-wheeler slammed right into the Austin man and caused him to plummet to the ground. The man has suffered permanent injuries to his torso, arms, wrists, and shoulders. Doctors fear he may never be able to work again. Barry & Loewy LLP specializes in truck accidents and handles these cases throughout Texas.   • Barry & Loewy LLP represents an Austin man who created a sales software program for D.R. Horton, Inc. (NYSE: DHI), the nation’s largest homebuilder. The Austin man offered to sell the program to D.R. Horton but the company repeatedly declined to buy it. However, unbeknownst to the Austin developer, D.R. Horton began using the program throughout Texas and the nation, and continues to use it to this day. D.R. Horton used it without the Austin developer’s permission and therefore, according to the lawsuit, committed conversion and theft. The suit is pending in the District Court of Bexar County (San Antonio). Barry & Loewy LLP is co-counseling this case with the Watts Law Firm.
