Carl R. Barry
Carl R. Barry is a trial lawyer who has represented clients across America. He only represents people who have been seriously injured or killed due to the negligent actions of others.
Over his career, Carl has recovered millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for clients that have been involved in catastrophic 18-wheeler truck accidents and other serious

Lead counsel for a Chicago man who was innocence-pardoned in 2003 off of Illinois Death Row for a double murder he did not commit. The Chicago man was beaten and tortured into falsely confessing to the crime by Chicago Police. In January 2008, Carl successfully obtained a Five Million Dollar ($5,000,000.00) settlement for his client. The net recovery to the client was $3,333,000.00.
Lead counsel recovering nearly Two-Million Dollars ($1,950,000.00) for a Texas man who was seriously injured by an 18-wheeler owned and operated by one of the largest commercial trucking companies in America. During discovery, Carl discovered that the 18-wheeler company had intentionally altered internal company records related to the accident after the lawsuit had been filed. The 18-wheeler company settled with Carl and his client just weeks before the jury trial was set to begin. The net recovery to the client was $1,100,000.00.
Lead counsel representing the family of an Austin man who was killed by an 18-wheeler while he was in the crosswalk of Ben White Boulevard and the outer road of IH-35. The 18-wheeler missed the curved turnoff and made a dangerous sharp right turn at the stoplight. The middle wheels of the 18-wheeler ran over the man. The case settled for a confidential amount just days before it was set to go to a jury trial in federal court. It is believed to be one of the largest contributory negligence truck-pedestrian wrongful death settlements in the past ten (10) years in Austin.
Lead counsel representing a Houston family seriously injured after being rear-ended by an 18-wheeler truck. In discovery, Carl was able to expose the truck company’s disgraceful safety record and history of similar accidents. Soon after doing this, the truck company settled this case for a confidential amount which was over fifteen times the amount of medical bills the family had sustained as a result of the accident.
Lead counsel representing a San Antonio man who was hit by an 18-wheeler that was speeding down I-35, flipped over the median, and crashed head-on into the San Antonio man. After exposing the truck company’s poor safety history and discovering that the truck company allowed the truck driver to drive around on bald tires, the truck company settled this case for over fifteen times the amount of medical bills the San Antonio man had sustained as a result of the accident.
Education
Carl earned his Juris Doctorate degree (Honors) from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was named the Nick C. Nichols Endowed Presidential Scholar in Advocacy. Carl earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology (Honors) from the University of Florida, where he was a Florida Academic Scholar and named a member of the National Dean's List.
